The CERULEAN TX+RX is a Bluetooth 2.0 transmitter/receiver duo in which the CERULEAN TX acts as the transmitter unit and the CERULEAN RX as the receiving device.
 
 
 
 
Yes. By plugging your CERULEAN TX Bluetooth transmitter into the iPod you can stream audio from your iPod to the CERULEAN RX receiver unit and control playback with the controls on your iPod.
 
 
 
 
No. The CERULEAN TX draws its power from the iPod while the CERULEAN RX is powered by docking it into your iPod HiFi or similar docking speaker system. You can also power both using a USB port or power adapter and the included USB cables. Neither unit contains a battery.
 
 
 
 
No. The CERULEAN RX receiver has a standard 1/8 inch (3.5mm) stereo audio output jack built into it. By powering the CERULEAN RX using an USB cable, a USB port or power adapter, and utilizing the appropriate audio adapter cables for the system you want to connect to (sold separately), you can receive audio from your CERULEAN TX equipped iPod and stream it to any device that has an auxiliary audio in port; be it a stereo, your computer, or even your car radio.
 
 
 
 
No. The CERULEAN TX+RX kit comes with the CERULEAN TX USB Adapter that allows you to plug the CERULEAN TX into a computer and stream audio directly from the computer to the CERULEAN RX. You can also power the CERULEAN TX by plugging the CERULEAN USB Adapter into a USB port or power adapter and stream audio from other devices to the CERULEAN RX by utilizing the 1/8 inch (3.5mm) stereo audio input jack built into the adapter and the appropriate audio cables (sold separately).
 
 
 
 
No. The CERULEAN TX can stream audio to other devices supporting the Bluetooth A2DP / AVRCP profiles. Likewise, the CERULEAN RX can receive audio from other devices capable of streaming audio using the same standard.
 
 
 
 
We found that it was not possible to maintain the connection with the iPod and, likewise, the iPod's knowledge of the CERULEAN TX unit while the iPod was turned off without drawing battery power to do so. In order to provide you with the maximum battery life possible, it was decided best to simply turn the CERULEAN TX off with the iPod and make the concession to require it be plugged in again when the iPod was turned back on.
 
 
 
 
We have tested this with the Apple iPod dock and found that, as long as the dock is powered/plugged in, this should work. Please note however that the CERULEAN TX+RX supports the transmission of audio only. So, for example, if your dock was one that would display the current song playing on a screen then that kind of functionality would not be available.
 
 
 
 
Bluetooth operates in the same 2.4 Ghz range used by most wireless routers and phones. You could debate whether or not that's necessarily better, but it does mean you don't have to worry about finding a clean channel to broadcast on as the technology already does that for you on it's own. The Bluetooth 2.0+EDR standard has a potential peak data transfer rate of 3 Mbps.
